Galway Harbour interpretative Centre – Ireland

Paul Treacy  Architects submitted an Architectural  concept for an RIAI  competition for an interpretative centre in Galway Harbour in Galway City , Ireland –  Paul was born and grew up in Galway so this project was social to him

The Architectural concept originated from the analysis of a currach boat which is indigenous and iconic to the west of Ireland.

Paul analysed and borrowed the geometric profiles of the currach hull geometry and unique profiles to create a very distinct and modern pavilion which sought to reference and projects the historical unique iconic profile and Geometry of the Irish Currach.

The Architectural submission was awarded  first place by the public ballot for the RIAI competition.
