A Modern Take On Rural Form

Roche Old Court Granary A Project By: Masker Architects Location: East Winterslow, Wiltshire Project Summary: This new-build cottage, designed by Masker Architects, replaces a dilapidated 1940s farm manager’s house and garage at Roche Old Court, Wiltshire. Project Detail: The project reflects the architectural language of barns and stables and is built with traditional materials, including reclaimed bricks and oak timber frame. The new structure has been designed to be subordinate in scale and form to the 17th century Grade II* listed farmhouse and tythe barn. Inside, a double-height space and extensive glazing maximises south-facing views. This new guest cottage completes the farmyard courtyard, providing a high-quality, sympathetic addition to the historic main house and listed outbuildings. Masker Architects was appointed by the new owners to repair, restore and update the listed farmhouse and tythe barn at risk of ruin.
