Yeo Valley
WDA have been working with Yeo Valley for several years contributing to a wider aspirational masterplan which focuses upon phased improvement and strategic re-development works to several sites across the Mendips. Our client’s key brief being to encourage and facilitate active visitor engagement with the natural environment. Activities include climbing, walking, cycling and caving within the unique natural features of this limestone combe and cave network which all falls within a registered Natural Landscape (Former AONB).
The Burrington Inn site presents a range of site-specific challenges, rich in ecology, heritage structures and woodland, as well as being adjacent to a Site of Scientific Interest (SSSI).
The design further included proactive engagement with statutory and local stakeholders to respond carefully to landscape character, with modestly scaled buildings arranged to suit operational needs and future adaptability. Proposed uses include a Food Hall and Café, Visitor and Exhibition Centre, retail units, public facilities, a dwelling, and holiday pods, creating a flexible rural destination that supports local enterprise and tourism with a full planning application submitted October 2024. https://www.yeovalley.co.uk/
