From Coach House to Contemporary Family Home
Once a Victorian coach house with compartmentalised rooms and balconies, this three-storey stuccoed gem has been completely reimagined into a bright, open and modern family home.
Working with returning clients — a Turkish–Italian couple (now with two little ones!) — we transformed their new home next door to their previous flat into something truly special.
The transformation included:
• Removing structural walls and adding new steelwork to open up the ground floor
• Creating a flexible, light-filled open-plan kitchen, living and dining space
• Adding a contemporary rear extension clad in Danish Petersen bricks — laid in a striking mitred pattern, inside and out
• Installing slimline Schüco glazing, rooflights, and a green planted roof overlooked by a new balcony
• Upgrading the detached garden room with charred timber cladding — now a home office and occasional guest space with its own kitchenette and bathroom
Inside, Italian fixtures, ornate tiles, and heirloom furniture from Milan sit beautifully against a refined neo-industrial palette of brick, oak, and steel.
The result: 300 sqm of light, texture and craftsmanship — a seamless blend of old and new.
