Independent School New Library and Sixth Form Centre By: Wotton Donoghue Architects WDA’s competition proposal presents an ambitious and innovative new-build library for an independent school, located on a brownfield site within the campus grounds. The £20 million scheme combines bold architectural expression with thoughtful placemaking to create a landmark educational facility. The design responds to the site’s natural setting, with the façade taking cues from the texture and rhythm of nearby cedar trees which feature a blend of clear and obscure cladding to optimise daylight and frame views across the campus landscape. Internally, the proposal provides approximately 700 reader seats, offering a dynamic mix of vibrant social study areas, quiet zones, flexible teaching and learning spaces, a dedicated sixth form centre, and a reader café—fostering both academic excellence and community engagement.   We are proud to feature and promote in our architecture magazine WDA’s innovative new library and sixth form centre design
