Blackford Grange – A glimpse into the future

Blackford Grange stands out as one of the most rewarding projects we’ve had the chance to work on. This luxury barn conversion, set in a breathtaking rural landscape and featuring its own polo pitch, offered a unique opportunity to help a client visualise something truly one of a kind.
Our role in the project was to assist with high-quality CGIs that could bring the client’s ideas to life. For developments like this, where design choices carry a lot of weight, having visuals to refer to early on can make a huge difference. The CGIs we produced helped the client better understand their layout, materials, and finer architectural details—everything from window placements to patio layouts and even cladding options. When you’re dealing with a custom home on this scale, the cost of a wrong decision made late in the build can be substantial. This is where good CGIs come in, helping to avoid delays and expensive last-minute changes.
From an architect’s perspective, CGIs can be a game-changer. They allow your clients to see and connect with the vision you’ve put on paper, which helps prevent indecisiveness and reduces the risk of redesigns. It gives everyone involved a much clearer sense of the direction from the start.
The client was clear about how helpful the visuals were in their own words: “Because this one is so different from our other homes, the CGIs have been unbelievably helpful to see our vision on paper. Honestly, I think I’d have them made now whatever the build, as it’s hugely motivational to have the end picture printed from the beginning.”
We also created a CGI video walkthrough of the entire design. The client shared this on their social media, and it quickly gained attention for how effectively it showcased the transformation from a functional agricultural barn into a welcoming family home. These kinds of visuals are not only valuable tools for making decisions, but also for generating buzz and interest online.
To match the tone of the home, we chose a dusk setting for the imagery. This helped create a cozy, lived-in feel and let the architectural features shine. It also allowed us to hint at the interior layout from the outside, which gave the client more confidence in the spatial flow and how it would feel to live there.
Working with the client was a real collaboration, and our goal was to take all their ideas—from moodboards to detailed emails about lighting and even lawn stripes—and make them visual. That level of detail is hard to explain in words alone, but CGIs help bridge that gap.
For developers and architects alike, this project is a reminder of how useful it is to see your ideas clearly before the build starts. CGIs offer more than just a nice picture—they’re a powerful tool for decision making, planning, and getting buy-in from everyone involved.
