Planning Permission for Wasdell Production and Packaging
Anderson + Prescott are pleased to share that planning consent has been granted for our proposal to extend and refurbish Wasdell Group’s Groundwell site in Swindon, delivering a state-of-the-art, production packaging, storage, and distribution facility. This was an ambitious brief that required us to work within the constraints of the existing operational site and structure to create a facility capable of supporting and expanding our clients operations.
At the early stages, we place particular emphasis on sketching to help the client test and visualise ideas, expand and challenge the brief, and arrive at a clear architectural vision for the site.
Our design proposes a complete architectural transformation, combining increased capacity and operational efficiency with a people-first working environment. A standout feature is the new office and welfare pod, which will be clad in light-toned larch timber with a green roof and living wall. It is designed as a calm, uplifting space for staff, using sustainable natural materials and biophilic design to enhance wellbeing and biodiversity.
The existing metal façade of the warehouse will be replaced with polychromatic cladding panels in natural green-brown tones that subtly shift with light and movement. This will wrap around both new and existing facilities, helping to unify the expanded footprint and create a dynamic visual identity that blends with the surrounding trees and landscape. Extensive solar arrays will be installed across the roofscapes to provide a renewable energy source for internal operations.
With this consent now in place, we are excited to be involved in the next stages of project, maintaining our shared commitment to deliver best in class facilities that balance performance, sustainability, and staff wellbeing.
