In the AEC industry, acronyms often become the shorthand for entire philosophies. BIM (Building Information Modelling) has dominated conversations for years. But let’s be honest, BIM has never truly captured the entire life-cycle of the built environment.
More recently, DfMA (Design for Manufacture and Assembly) has emerged as a vital improvement, streamlining design-to-delivery workflows. Yet DfMA, while powerful, still falls short. Why? Because it stops at the point of construction. It doesn’t acknowledge what happens afterwards, the decades of operation, maintenance and adaptation that truly define a building’s value.
At KREOD and KREODx, we asked ourselves: How do we describe (in one unifying framework) the complete journey, from conception to long-term stewardship?
That’s how we came to introduce a new term: DEMACOM.
