Ladden View Care Home – Bristol By: KWL Architects KWL Architects are an acclaimed and award-winning architectural practice who specialise in designing innovative solutions tailored specifically for the care sector. Their latest project is a 75-bedroom care home, located North of Yate town centre, which is designed to provide specialist residential, dementia and respite care within a modern, dynamic care environment. As the site sits with a wider – predominantly residential – masterplan, the exterior of the care home has been designed to feel domestic in scale with its mass broken down with the use of gables and varying materiality creating the impression of a group of domestic-scale residential buildings to fit within the existing street scene. The application of reconstituted stone and red brick reflects and embraces the local vernacular ensuring the care home integrates within its surroundings. Upon entering the home there is an inviting entrance foyer that opens onto a reception, café bar, hair and beauty salon, and cinema. Circulation through this ‘communal hub’ arrangement encourages interaction between residents and visitors.
