Light House Studio have undertaken a gable rear extension to a new build house in Rowland’s Castle, Hampshire. The extension creates a relaxing and spacious dining space which has transformed the rear of the property. The vaulted ceiling, high-level window and extensive glazing frame the view of the beautiful garden and create a dramatic sense of space and additional light.
A gable roof extension was designed to seamlessly blend in with the existing house through a careful design and selection of materials. A high-level window above the French doors and roof windows maximise light, garden views and indoor / outdoor connections. Cement weatherboard cladding and slate roof tiles match the materials of the existing house to ensure the extension flawlessly connects. Timber frame construction was also utilised to assist with sustainability and accuracy.
The clients are really happy and feel like the extension sits well and seamlessly blends with the existing house. Light House Studio assisted from concept to completion to ensure the best result for the clients’ brief. The proposed extension and changes have maximised the potential of the existing house adding light, amenity value and garden views, where a key focus on the quality of the space has been achieved.
