Upholding Radisson Brand Standards with a Sheffield Twist By: HLM Architects As an International hotel brand with a reputation for excellence, the arrival of Radisson Blu as part of the Heart of the City development in Sheffield, is expected to attract new business opportunities into the city, while raising its profile as an attractive destination. Accommodating visitors with stylish facilities for both work and relaxation, the hotel is housed behind the charming facades of Palatine Chambers and City Mews. Replacing Barkers Pool House on Burgess Street is a second complementary building, containing the majority of the hotel’s 154 bedrooms. Retaining the Pinstone Street facade, the massing of the Hotel has been developed to respond to the surrounding context by stepping away from the Peace Gardens, towards John Lewis and echoing the roof form of the historic roofscape, through a contemporary mansard rooftop extension with French Gothic inspired turrets.
