Nur Library

Nur Library is a conceptual project that reinterprets Islamic architecture through a modern interior design lens. The space is shaped by three key elements geometry, arches and mashrabiya screens which introduce structure, rhythm and softness while creating a calm, contemplative atmosphere suited to reading and study.
Geometric patterns organise circulation and define quiet zones, unifying the visual language of the library. Arches frame reading nooks and transitions, adding flow and elegance. Mashrabiya screens filter natural light and provide subtle privacy, casting soft, shifting shadows that support focus and tranquillity throughout the day.
The design draws inspiration from Persian gardens, Mughal architecture and contemporary works recognised by the Aga Khan Award for Architecture. These influences guide the project’s emphasis on harmony, clarity, natural illumination and the social value of communal learning spaces.
With a warm palette, layered lighting and a strong dialogue between tradition and modernity, Nur Library presents a refined interpretation of Islamic spatial design one rooted in balance, serenity and atmosphere.
