15 Taunton Road (single storey extension)
The 15 Taunton Road project was concerned with bringing a classic Wimbledon home into the 21st century by reimagining into a Scandinavian interior theme, giving it new life with a stylish single storey rear extension. Every aspect of this transformation was designed and executed to exactly the same degree by our team at Extension Architecture. The goal? To add warmth, light and modern convenience to a favourite place.
In the case of this project, we started with the extension to the kitchen which became the heart of the house from which daily life could be more comfortable and enjoyable. Flooded with natural light via bifold doors leading to the garden and through skylights and Velux windows, the space was connected seamlessly. Luxurious comfort of the ground floor visitors was provided with underfloor heating, making it extra cosy during those colder months.
It wasn’t about throwing on loads of space, it was adding space thoughtfully. We had been involved in the whole process from securing planning permission for Merton Council through to detailed building regulation drawings and final structural designs. We did all this, preparing tender packages, overseeing construction and doing contract administration to bring it to the highest standard of craftsmanship.
It all came together through interior design. Open plan layout is complemented with custom joinery that enhanced functionality yet didn’t sacrifice style. The bathroom area has been reworked by using the elegance of the rest of the home and we have revamped the kitchen with sleek Scandinavian elements.
