Rownham House – Long Ashton Bristol A Project By: Wotton Donoghue Architects Rownham House is a detached dwelling with associated outbuildings, set within approximately 0.7 hectares of mature grounds. Although in private ownership, the property lies within the Grade II* Listed Ashton Court Registered Park and Garden, requiring a sensitive and contextually aware design approach. WDA has worked closely with the clients to develop a bespoke family home that responds to the site’s distinctive historic and landscape character. This has included a thorough analysis of the heritage context, landscape setting, and visual impact, ensuring the proposals are sympathetic to their surroundings while delivering a high-quality contemporary home. The design has been carefully developed with attention to massing, orientation, and material selection, achieving a balance between modern family living and respectful integration with the wider parkland setting. Input from heritage and landscape consultants has supported the design process and informed key decisions throughout. WDA is now progressing the project through the detailed design stage, developing comprehensive architectural drawings and technical information to inform the next phases of delivery.
