Sand Dunes: A Contemporary Coastal Home A Project By: Laurence Associates Location: Cubert, Cornwall Project Summary: Set within the countryside southwest of Cubert, Sand Dunes is a striking, light filled residence overlooking the expansive Penhale Dunes. Positioned on a long, narrow plot, the contemporary home replaces a former two storey dwelling, thoughtfully reimagined by Laurence Associates to maximise natural light, capture panoramic views and enhance spatial efficiency. Project Detail: The design retains the original L shaped footprint while extending the principal volume across the width of the site to create a more cohesive internal arrangement. Carefully considered architectural interventions, including a stepped rear elevation and a reduced height western gable, minimise visual impact on neighbouring properties. A refined palette of natural, high-quality materials ensures the building sits comfortably within its rural setting, harmonising contemporary form with the surrounding coastal landscape. Laurence Associates were appointed to lead the project from concept to completion. Construction commenced in March 2016, with the practice retained to provide a Professional Consultant’s Certificate, ensuring rigorous oversight and attention to detail throughout.
