Brixton Hill: Luxury Victorian Renovation
A Project By: Turnkey Contractors
In partnership with BAS Architects, luxury construction and development specialists, Turnkey Contractors, transformed this unloved Victorian property in Brixton with a full rear extension and internal remodel.
The team were tasked to sensitively modernise, extend and re-model the existing property to increase the square footage and create a living and dining space that felt bright and spacious. With a focus on raw materials, the reinvention showcases exposed steel, timber, and polished concrete flooring to create a modern, brutalist aesthetic that embodies luxury minimalism

Complemented by interior features such as the Crittall-style bi-fold doors, exposed brickwork and bespoke skylights, the polished concrete floors feel both contemporary and timeless. The result is a spacious and ultra modern family living space that remains harmonious with the Victorian shell.
How concrete can be used in homes:
“In the last decade, we’ve seen a real shift toward using concrete as a defining feature in home interiors. Exposed concrete ceilings and, in particular, polished concrete floors have surged in popularity, offering a simple, honest look that helps create clean, calming spaces.
“Polished concrete flooring is now a key feature in many residential projects. When used effectively, concrete can achieve an ultra-modern look while still feeling warm and comfortable. For example, continuing the same flooring material outdoors can help streamline the eye through the home, enhancing the sense of space. Polished concrete floors offer considerable durability and, if properly cared for, the flooring can last a lifetime. Fully recyclable, the material also improves the way heat is reflected and retained, helping to make a home more energy efficient and longer lasting.”

Brixton Hill’s transformation exemplifies the type of contemporary, design-led renovation celebrated in Architecture Vogue Magazine & Luxury Property Magazine, where innovative use of materials and thoughtful spatial planning are highlighted.
