Inclusive Supported Living Accommodation in Dunstable

By: Alessandro Caruso Architecture and Interiors

Alessandro Caruso Architecture and Interiors (ACA) is proud to announce collaboration with HB Villages, designing a supported living accommodation in Dunstable. This thoughtfully designed scheme aims to provide high-quality, accessible housing for residents with physical disabilities, complex care needs, and mental health conditions.

A Vision for Inclusive Living –

The project comprises two residential blocks, carefully designed to foster independence while ensuring comfort and security for the residents. ACA’s approach prioritises accessibility, creating a home environment that caters to a diverse range of needs. By integrating inclusive design principles, the accommodation allows for seamless mobility, ease of use, and adaptable spaces that evolve with the needs of its occupants.

Designing for Flexibility and Wellbeing –

At the heart of ACA’s design philosophy is a commitment to providing spaces that not only meet but exceed regulatory standards for safety, accessibility, and sustainability. The supported living accommodation aligns with the latest Building Regulations, ensuring compliance with the highest standards of accessibility and energy efficiency.

Key design elements include:

  • Barrier-free layouts that accommodate wheelchairs and mobility aids effortlessly.
  • Non-clinical aesthetics to promote a homely and welcoming atmosphere.
  • Flexible living spaces that can be adapted for varying levels of support.
  • Sustainable building solutions to future-proof the accommodation for generations to come.

A Holistic Approach to Supported Living –

Beyond functionality, ACA has focused on creating an environment that enhances wellbeing. Natural light, thoughtfully designed communal areas, and a balance between private and shared spaces encourage both independence and social interaction. The aim is to empower residents while providing them with a safe, comfortable, and dignified living experience.

Conclusion –

This project represents another milestone in ACA’s ongoing commitment to designing innovative, people-focused environments. By seamlessly blending accessibility, sustainability and aesthetics, ACA has created a model for future supported living developments. The Dunstable project not only meets the needs of today’s residents but also ensures long-term adaptability for evolving care requirements.

With a clear focus on the end users, ACA’s design transcends traditional care housing, delivering a truly inclusive and future-ready living solution.
