Revitalising Community Spaces: Sustainable Redesign and Enhanced Functionality By: Square Feet Architects In response to a community’s desire for a more attractive, functional, and environmentally responsible space, we embarked on a comprehensive project to enhance both the aesthetic and sustainable aspects of their premises. This initiative involved a combination of architectural redesign, material upgrades, and thoughtful landscaping, transforming a previously dated environment into a vibrant, versatile space that better serves the needs of all community members. With a focus on sustainability, energy efficiency, and social functionality, our design has successfully revitalised this community space, making it more inviting and environmentally friendly. The primary aspect of the redesign was the refacing of the main building, a structure originally built in the 1970s. Given its outdated appearance and poor insulation, this building was in need of substantial aesthetic and functional improvements. To address these concerns, we implemented an exterior refacing strategy that combined the addition of high-quality insulation with natural timber cladding.
