Awaiting comments, the proposal seeks to bring meaningful, design-led regeneration to a site that has remained vacant and voiceless for over 50 years. Located just north of the city centre, at the gateway between Cheetham Hill and Manchester’s cultural core, the centre is conceived as a civic landmark for gathering, celebration, and connection—a place where architecture amplifies community values and future aspirations. A Forgotten Site, Remembered Anew The plot at 158 Cheetham Hill Road was once home to the Manchester United Synagogue (Meade Hill Hebrew Congregation), housed within a former Methodist chapel from around 1906 until the late 1960s.
