Community Diagnostic Centre for Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Trust By: Alessandro Caruso Architects Overview Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Trust (NLAG) has engaged ACA to design a state-of-the-art Community Diagnostic Centre in the heart of Scunthorpe. This new facility is aimed at improving access to diagnostic services for the local community, marking a significant development in healthcare provision for the area. Project Brief The goal of the project was to create a dedicated Community Diagnostic Centre that offers a comprehensive range of diagnostic services. These include MRI and CT scanners, ultrasound, X-rays, and blood testing, all aimed at enhancing patient care and improving the efficiency of local healthcare services. Design Concept ACA’s design for the Centre focuses on both clinical excellence and patient comfort, with an emphasis on improving physical and emotional wellbeing. A key feature of the design is its inspiration from the wave-like forms of ultrasound tissue harmonic imaging, which is symbolically connected to the simplicity and significance of diagnostic waves in detecting life.
