Holloway Road, Islington By: T2S Architecture This public House building is located on Holloway Road, in the London Borough of Islington, near to the Highbury & Islington tube station. Historical images have been found for this building, confirming its existence and the wider block for over 150 years. It has all the features of a prominent Public House built during the industrial revolution. It is situated on a main corner, with the edge curved to soften the form, with the Pub on the ground floor and its associated facilities on the upper floors. As times have changed, hospitality establishments of this nature tend to not need the upper floor spaces – preferring to use the ground and basement levels for operations and storage. As such, our client asked us to review development options to achieve circa 5 to 6 residential apartments. The building is locally listed, and it situated within a conservation area, so we knew there would be some resistance to obvious extensions.
