Darlington Railway Station A Project By: Collaborative Architecture The extension and alteration works at Darlington Railway Station represent a significant investment in the future of rail infrastructure in the North East, while carefully respecting the historic character of one of the region’s most important listed transport buildings. Designed by architect Kevin Brown in collaboration with engineers from ARUP during 2018–2019, the scheme has now been successfully delivered, with only minor refinements made during the construction and design development process. Kevin has a broad range of working on infrastructure from the extension to the Tyne and Wear Metro, various rail projects in the UK and work on metro stations in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The project was conceived to address increasing passenger demand and improve regional connectivity across Tees Valley and the wider North East. A key component of the scheme is the introduction of new platforms on the eastern side of the station, creating enhanced rail connections to Middlesbrough and Saltburn.
