Understated Luxury: Mr and Mrs Hardy’s Contemporary Kitchen by Kemp – Kitchen Design Studio
Kemp – Kitchen design studio recently completed a bespoke kitchen design for Mr and Mrs Hardy in Timperley, Manchester. The project brought together a minimalist in-frame kitchen style with thoughtful details and practical features, creating a balance of beauty and function that perfectly suits the Hardys’ vision of contemporary luxury.
Achieving a Streamlined, Modern Look
The Hardys requested a modern take on the in-frame kitchen, specifically a style without the traditional beading detail to achieve a smooth, plain aesthetic. To keep the look as seamless as possible, we selected contemporary handles and ensured that the plinths aligned perfectly with the cabinet fronts, creating a flush, cohesive finish.
A Symmetrical Island with Integrated Appliances
Symmetry played a significant role in the island design, which features dual wine coolers on each end to provide a balanced visual focal point. In addition, a venting hob was positioned centrally on the island, enhancing functionality while contributing to the room’s streamlined appearance.
Sophisticated Colour Palette and Premium Finishes
For the colour scheme, we used Farrow and Ball’s Purbeck Stone for a soft, warm grey that contrasts subtly with the darker, bold Railings on select features. The worktops and full-height splashback are crafted from high-quality quartz, chosen for their sleek look and durability, reinforcing the room’s modern yet understated luxury.
Additional Functional Features
Beyond aesthetics, the design incorporates a Quooker tap for instant hot water and a pantry concealed behind a Critall-style door. This pantry provides ample storage without detracting from the clean lines of the main kitchen area. To meet the clients’ needs for additional storage, we also created a cloakroom area at the top of the stairs, providing a tidy solution for daily essentials.
Precision in Design and Installation
Working closely with the project’s builder, Kemp – Kitchen Design Studio conducted regular site visits to ensure the accuracy of the installation. We made fine adjustments to the furniture sizes to suit the as-built measurements, guaranteeing a flawless fit. Additionally, we supplied plumbing and electrical drawings, ensuring that all feeds were positioned accurately, minimising on-site adjustments and ensuring smooth project execution.
This kitchen stands as an example of Kemp – Kitchen Design Studio’s commitment to creating spaces that marry elegance with precision. The Hardys’ new kitchen is both an inviting space for entertaining and a showcase of minimalist craftsmanship, designed to be as functional as it is beautiful.
