Horizon Home Improvements was proud to be selected to deliver the glazing package for the new Padstow Harbour Commissioners Office redevelopment in Padstow, Cornwall. This prestigious coastal project required a combination of high-performance windows, doors and curtain walling capable of meeting demanding thermal efficiency requirements while withstanding the challenging marine environment. Working closely with the project team, we supplied and installed premium Rationel and Reynaers systems to create a modern, efficient and visually striking building within the built environment.
The redevelopment of the Padstow Harbour Commissioners Office represents a significant investment in the future of one of Cornwall’s most important and recognisable harbours. Horizon Home Improvements was appointed to supply and install a comprehensive glazing package throughout the development. The specification included high-performance Rationel windows and doors, renowned for their outstanding thermal efficiency, contemporary styling and exceptional build quality. These systems were chosen to help create a comfortable internal environment for staff while reducing energy consumption and supporting the building’s sustainability objectives.
Alongside the Rationel products, the project also featured Reynaers aluminium bi-folding doors and curtain walling systems. Reynaers is recognised throughout the construction industry for delivering innovative architectural glazing solutions, making it the ideal choice for a development of this calibre.
The Reynaers curtain walling installation creates expansive glazed elevations that maximise natural daylight throughout the building, helping to create bright and welcoming internal spaces. The large glazed sections also provide impressive views across the harbour, strengthening the connection between the building and its unique waterfront setting.
The Reynaers bi-folding doors provide flexibility and functionality, allowing internal spaces to open seamlessly to external areas when required. Their slim sightlines and modern design contribute to the clean architectural appearance of the building while maintaining excellent thermal and weather performance.
A key aspect of the installation was ensuring the building envelope achieved the highest possible levels of efficiency and protection. To achieve this, all windows and doors were carefully sealed using Illbruck EPDM membrane tapes. This additional layer of protection enhances airtightness, improves weather resistance and helps safeguard the building against the harsh coastal elements for years to come. The use of EPDM tapes also supports the long-term thermal performance of the installation by reducing unwanted air leakage around the window and door openings.
As with all major commercial projects, attention to detail was critical throughout every stage of the installation.
